Cogitation Skin for .Text

Get the skin here: Cogitation Blue skin

If you've ever wanted to start a weblog, Scott Water and the .Text developers have put together a very respectable application.  If you've spent any amount time browsing the Internet for quality information, it is very likely that you’ve already encounter a .Text weblog.

Included are a number of nice skins to choose from.  Being the developer I am, I couldn't resist looking under the hood and taking a quick peek at the architecture and “skinnable” features .Text boasts.

I downloaded .Text (version 0.95) on Friday, played with it for a bit and then installed it on my web site.  Saturday, I started creating my own skin.  Of course, I didn't have a clear idea of what I wanted, but what fun would that be?!  Now it's Sunday and here I am writing this.

Now, wait just a minute.  I know what you're thinking.  What a sad existence this must be “working” all weekend.  I tell my son I am playing and he says it looks more like “working“ than “playing“.  Just to show I'm not a complete recluse, I took my daughter to the stables, went shopping with my wife :( and even played Halo with my son and his friend.  Got my butt kicked, again.  But it really never hurts that bad when your son beats you in a game of Halo.  There is always a little pride standing along side my frustration.  Ok, I've significantly drifted off so I’ll get back to .Text.

There are a number of good things to say about .Text.  Architecture, C#, open source, and others.  Since I am “playing”, I was interested in making my own skins.  Surprisingly enough it was pretty simple – a sign of good application design.  I would like to hear what others have to say about it.  You can download it or view a screen shot.  Of course my weblog is using this same skin as the image, but I intend to add other colors in the near future.
